Prof Michael Good

Professor Michael Good AO is a Principal Research Leader at the Institute for Biomedicine and Glycomics at Griffith University. He has developed candidate vaccines for malaria and streptococcus that have entered clinical trials. He has published over 400 refereed scientific papers and book chapters.

He graduated MD PhD DSc from the University of Queensland and the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research and undertook postdoctoral training at NIH.

He was the Director of the CRC for Vaccine Technology and of QIMR. He served as Chairman of the National Health and Medical Research Council for 6 years.

His awards include being made an Officer of the Order of Australia, winning the Eureka Prize for Leadership, being named a Queensland Great, being named the Heart Foundation’s Researcher of the Year and winning Dr John Raftos Prize from the National Foundation for Medical Research and Innovation.

He is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering, of the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences and of the American Academy of Microbiology.
