Dr. Louisa Chan is a Senior Research Fellow at Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, Nanyang Technological University, where her research focuses on understanding the pathogenesis of respiratory viruses e.g. SARS-CoV-2, influenza viruses and Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). using patient-derived airway organoids. In recent work, Dr. Chan has leveraged the human airway organoid platform to evaluate the efficacy of mRNA vaccine candidates against COVID-19. With the combination of traditional mouse models, this innovative approach aims to provide a more accurate assessment of vaccine candidates in terms of the potential vaccine effectiveness and safety.
